End of semester announcements

Students:  All library materials are due back by on the due date that is listed in your library account at https://vufind.carli.illinois.edu/vf-nei/MyResearch/HomeYou may contact the Circulation Desk at 773-442-4400 if you have any questions regarding your library account or any items you have borrowed.  Please clear your library fines and/or fees before the semester ends to prevent any holds on your account which can potentially cause issues with future semester enrollments, transcripts, etc.

Important Library Dates:

The Library will be open for extended hours until May 3

  • Monday-Thursday, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Sunday, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Recess hours will be in effect from May 4 – 17

  • Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Saturday-Sunday, CLOSED

The Library returns to regular hours on May 18

  • Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Other important reminders:

If you lose your University ID and issued a new one please stop by the Circulation Desk in the Main Library or CCICS so that we can update your library account.

If you are returning for the fall semester but not taking classes during the summer you can still use the library.  We have extended your patron account through the summer.

Taking classes at the University Center?

You should have recently received an announcement from the Transfer Center with information about getting your NEIU ID card at the University Center.  You will need an NEIU ID card when picking up materials you requested from the Library or via I-Share.  Contact the Transfer Center at TransferSteps@neiu.edu to make an appointment to obtain your NEIU ID card.

Extended hours for remainder of semester

The library will be open for the following extended hours from April 23rd through May 3rd:

  • Monday-Thursday, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Sunday, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

For the additional hours, reference and circulation services on the 1st floor will be available and the building will be open for study. The library’s full operating schedule can be found here. Good luck with finals!

 

Extended hours + free drinks and snacks for end of term

The Main Library will be open for the following extended hours from April 16th through May 3rd:

  • Monday-Thursday, 7 am to 11 pm
  • Friday, 7 am to 6 pm
  • Saturday, 9 am to 6 pm
  • Sunday, 9 am to 10 pm

For the additional hours, reference and circulation services on the 1st floor will be available and the building will be open for study. Drinks and snacks will be available April 16-April 19 from 7-8 am, and 8-11 pm, April 22 from 8-10 pm. The library’s full operating schedule can be found here.

The CCICS Library will also be open for extended hours during finals week:

  • Monday-Thursday, 1 pm to 9 pm
  • Friday, 9 pm to 5 pm

Drinks and snacks will be served at CCICS April 16-April 19 from 6:30-8:30 pm. Good luck with finals!

 

Library open for regular hours during Spring Break

Even though classes are out, The Library will remain open for regular operating hours throughout the week of Spring Break. All normal services including circulation, the reference desk, and the MLRC will be available.

The CCICS Library is also open this week, but with different hours, while the Library Resource Center at El Centro is closed until next week. Enjoy the break and good luck to students as you begin preparing for upcoming final exams.

End of semester announcements

Important Library Dates:

The Library will be closed from Friday, December 23, 2011 through Monday, January 2, 2012.  We will reopen on Tuesday, January 3, 2012.  This also includes the CCICS Library and the Library Resource Center at El Centro.

The last day to submit requests for delivery to CCICS and El Centro from the Main Library is Wednesday, December 21.  All requests must be picked up at CCICS or El Centro by the end of Thursday, December 22.

The last day to request materials from the CCICS Library is Tuesday, December 20.  All material requested from CCICS Library must be picked up at Main Library or El Centro by the end of Thursday, December 22.

All I-Share and ILLiad requests submitted during the holiday break will be processed when the Library reopens on Tuesday, January 3, 2012.

Other important reminders:

As a result of consortial changes affecting all 76 I-Share libraries, new Universal Borrowing policies will be implemented beginning January 2012.  With these policies in place certain thresholds related to overdue items and outstanding fines and fees will be set to block a library account from requesting and borrowing through I-Share, as well as from the NEIU library collection.  Library blocks that are due to items owned by NEIU may be cleared up at the Circulation Desk of the Main Library or CCICS.  Library blocks placed by other I-Share libraries that are the result of overdue items or fines and fees must be cleared by contacting the lending library.

If you are issued a new University ID please stop by the Circulation Desk in the Main Library or CCICS so that we can update your library account.

Extended hours + free coffee and snacks during finals

Fuel Your Brain and take advantage of the Library’s extended hours to prepare for finals. If our comfortable atmosphere, helpful staff, and on-site resources aren’t enough to entice you, come to the Reference Desk for free coffee, soda, and cookies.

Thanksgiving break and extended hours

The Library will be closed this Thursday and Friday (November 24-25) for Thanksgiving. We will resume normal operating hours on Saturday (November 26).

From November 28th through December 15th, we will be open for the following end-of-semester extended hours:

  • Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The semester is wrapping up, and the Library is busier than ever. We recognize that you need study space to finish up your projects and prepare for exams, so we are extending our hours April 20 – May 4.

Monday – Thursday, 8 a.m. – 10:30 p.m.
Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Saturday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Sunday, Noon – 8 p.m.

Don’t forget you can access many of our materials from home or other off-campus locations. Just start your research at the Library home page, and you will be asked to login with your NetID and password if you want to use one of our online databases or journal subscriptions.
