• Website – Based on your feedback during the past year, the library will soon be launching an upgraded and redesigned version of our website. Aside from a new, fresh  look, you can expect improved functionality and usability.
• Alumni Borrowing – As part of the new NEIU Alumni Association membership packages, library borrowing privileges for alumni will be undergoing some changes. Basic members (any NEIU graduate) will continue to have access to our on-site collections and resources. However, in order to borrow materials alumni and/or community users must now opt for one of the paid memberships.
• I-Share Loan Periods – Universal borrowing policies for I-Share have recently become standardized.   Materials checked out through I-Share will now have a loan period of 28 days, with the option of 3 equally long renewals. Loan periods on the renewals will now begin from the current due date. Loan periods for items in our collection have not changed.
• Printing/Photocopying – The University’s printing and photocopying system will be undergoing a complete overhaul for the Fall ’10 semester. Printing and photocopying services in the Library will soon include color copying/printing, wireless printing, and an integrated system for printing and photocopying. Brief instructions on how to print from library computers can be found here. For information about the new quota system, please refer to this document. Stay tuned for more details as the University completes its implementation for the fall semester.
  
• Library Accounts – The library’s new catalog handles lost ID cards and login information in a slightly different way than our previous catalog. In the case of a lost ID card, please follow these directions. For complete information on setting up your new account, see our Instructions for Creating a New Account in the NEIU Library Catalog.

Plus, the same convenience of one-click requesting from I-Share is still available. If NEIU doesn’t own a book you need, just click Request this item to borrow the book from another academic library in Illinois.

You will need to create a new account to request materials from I-Share libraries and view your library account.  Visit Your Account in the NEIU Library Catalog to create a new account or read our Instructions for Creating a New Account in the NEIU Library Catalog for more information.

Changes have already been made to the I-Share catalog for requesting.  Go to https://i-share.carli.illinois.edu/all/vf to use the new I-Share catalog.
