One Book Per Semester

The Library is supporting the College of Business and Management’s One Book Per Semester. One Book per Semester (OBPS) is an effort to engage business students and faculty in the reading and discussion of a common book during the fall semester and another common book during the spring semester.

Both books are on two-hour reserve at the Library’s Circulation Desk. They are listed under the course MNGT OBPS.
Japanese American Imprisonment and Resistance in World War II

This presentation, by Dr. Shirley Castelnuovo, NEIU Professor Emeritus, will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2008, at 7 PM in the Golden Eagles Room at Northeastern Illinois University. The talk is based on Dr. Castelnuovo’s new book, “Soldiers of Conscience: Japanese American Military Resisters in World War II”.
Joining Dr. Castelnuovo will be Sam Osaki, a representative from the Midwest Japanese American Citizens’ League, discussing the 20th Anniversary of the signing of the “Civil Liberties Act of 1988″, that provided an apology and monetary compensation to the 120,000 Japanese Americans Interned in 1942.
There is a display of relevant documents in the Ronald Williams Library.
